About This Release
This CD opens with the last tracks made in Nov. 1951 with a band Mezz regularly played with at the time. For the sake of completeness, Zutty Singleton's drum solo has also been included here. A few months later, Mezzrow gave a concert at "Salle Pleyel" which was partly issued soon after. On the opening "Really The Blues" Mezzrow showed what he was capable of. His duos with Zutty Singleton, Earl Hines' "Monday Date" in particular, are highlights.
